How ClickTray is funded

ClickTray is free — no paid tier, no ads. It is funded by the bundled Massive SDK, which shares a slice of your idle bandwidth when it can.

"When it can" is not a hedge. Only one Clearware tray app shares at a time, so if another one is already sharing on this PC, ClickTray will not.

The part worth reading twice

Sharing is what pays for the utilities, so they stop with it. Turn the switch off and the four tools are disabled until you turn it back on. The app says exactly that, on the same row as the switch.

The gate is admission control: it refuses to start new work. A session already running is neither killed nor hidden from you, and stopping it always works.

What it does and does not do

The shared bandwidth relays other parties' ordinary web traffic across your connection. It does not read your disk, your clipboard, your browsing, your keystrokes or your screen, and it is not a channel through which anything of yours leaves the machine.

To route traffic, Massive processes a limited set of device data — your IP address during active sessions, an anonymous device identifier, city-level location, device specifications and bandwidth statistics — as an independent data controller under its own privacy policy.

Turning it off

Three places, all equivalent: Settings → Share idle bandwidth, the ClickTray tray menu, or Massive's own tray icon. A stop from Massive's icon is honoured and ClickTray will not restart sharing behind you.

There is no automatic pausing on metered connections, no automatic back-off while you are using the network, and no bandwidth cap. In particular, sharing is not paused while a ClickTray session is running or while a game is in the foreground.

Uninstalling ends participation completely and removes the Massive agent.

What usually goes wrong

The utilities are greyed out and the status says the engine did not start. Check that Massive is installed and running, then use Try again. If a sibling Clearware app holds the sharing slot, ClickTray takes over automatically once it frees up.
