Getting started

By the end of this section ClickTray will be installed, running, and visible as an icon in your system tray.

System requirements

• Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). There is no Mac, Linux, Android or Chromebook build.
• No administrator rights. ClickTray installs for your user account only and never prompts for elevation.
• An internet connection — for updates, and for the bandwidth sharing that keeps the app free.
• No graphics card requirement, and no models or extra components to download after install.

Installing

Run the ClickTray installer and work through its pages. The first page is the Massive Terms of Service, ahead of everything else, because it is the most consequential choice in the installer: it explains in Massive's own words the bandwidth-sharing arrangement that funds the app. Read it. The ClickTray licence and privacy policy follow.

Installation is per-user, so it does not touch other accounts on the machine and does not ask for an administrator password.

First launch

On first launch ClickTray shows its consent screen, which covers the same ground as the installer pages and is where crash reporting and usage analytics are switched on or off. Both are opt-out — see Privacy.

Then do two things before anything else:

1. Set your stop shortcut. The default is F6. See Stopping a session — this is the control you will actually use, and the moment to learn it is before a synthetic mouse is running.
2. Pick a utility, or load a preset. The eight shipped presets are the fastest way to see what a working configuration looks like — see Presets and profiles.

What usually goes wrong

The utilities are greyed out. Bandwidth sharing is not running. That sharing is what pays for the app and the utilities are gated behind it — see How ClickTray is funded.

Windows warns about the installer. It should not: the installer is code-signed with Clearware's certificate. A warning that names an unknown publisher means the file did not come from clicktray.io — delete it and download again from the site.
